As a Flight Training Partner with the Air NZ Aviation Institute, it is now a requirement that all prospective students complete the ADAPT pilot pre-screening tool in the first instance.
This test can be accessed on the ServiceIQ website. http://www.nzskillsconnect.co.nz/.
Candidates should forward their results directly to the School of Aviation immediately they are advised by ServiceIQ
Candidates should meet a satisfactory standard in this test in order to be invited to the subsequent stage of the School of Aviation selection process.
To ensure students can have a reasonable expectation of satisfactorily complete this degree, they must meet further selection requirements including:
- Pilot Aptitude tests including a flight simulator aptitude test
- A selection interview
- Writing tasks: including an English language competency test, Math, Physics and Navigation assessments
Prior to enrolment, all students who pass the selection board must also obtain a CAA NZ Class one Medical Certificate as in accordance with the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority medical requirements.
- In addition; in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act 1990, Section 9, once enrolled in this programme students will be required to apply for a 'Fit and Proper Person' assessment. This requires students to provide an up to date 'Criminal Convictions' report and obtain an 'Offence History' report from Land Transport NZ & from any other country resided in over the last 5 years Note: Applicants will be made aware that a conviction for drunk driving (or other serious or serial offending) whilst on the course breaches the 'Fit and Proper Person' criteria, and their training will be terminated..
- Selection Board assessments (interview and Pilot aptitude assessment tests) for the first semester intake for 2016 will be held in early December 2015 and immediately after NCEA examinations. Prospective students will be advised of the dates.
It is preferred that students have passed Maths (Calculus), English and Physics at NCEA Level 3/Year 13 level or equivalent.
Competency in the English language is also a requirement, therefore students must pass a communication - based subject in Level 3, such as English, or Biology, or Classical Studies, or History etc. International students must provide evidence of an academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 or better, with no band lower than a 6.0. Students whose first language is not English may also be required to complete an 'Aviation English' test.
Note: Students enrolling at Massey University for the first time must meet the University entrance criteria before they can be admitted to any of these qualifications.
