뉴질랜드 NCEA 와 University Entrance(대학입학자격 조건)

OECD 국가중에서 뉴질랜드의 학생들의 학업성취율은 상위권이라고 합니다.

뉴질랜드 교육시스템을 뉴질랜드에서 언론에서는 투자대비 결과가 좋은 시스템이라고 이야기도 하는데,

이런 뉴질랜드 교육시스템, 특히나 고등학교 시스템을 National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEA)

이라고 합니다.

 

NCEA의 시작은 11학년(한국 고1)에서 시작해서 13학년 level 3을 마치면서 대학입학자격(University Entrance)을

얻게되는 방법으로 되어 있는데, 뉴질랜드에서 NCEA 를 공부한다고 해서 뉴질랜드 대학으로만 진학을

할수 밖에 없는 상황이 아니라, 영어권의 다른 나라, 호주, 영국등으로 진학을 할수있는, 타영어권국가에서

인정을 해주는 교육시스템입니다.

NCEA 평가방식자체가 절대평가인 동시에, 학생들이 여러 과목들을 선택할수있는 자율권을 보장하기때문에,

한국과 같은 방식의 국, 영, 수, 과 와 같은 방식이 아닌, 자신의 interest 에 맞는 과목들을 선택할수 있다는

장점이 있습니다. 물론, 과목선택시, 대학진학과 관련된 전공을 생각하고 과목을 선택해야하는 부분이 있지만,

자신의 장래 희망을 정하고, 고등학교때부터 관련 지식들을 얻는데에는 크나큰 장점이 있다고 하겠습니다. 

	NCEA Requirements
Level 1	80 credits are required at any level (level 1, 2 or 3) including literacy and numeracy. Schools can explain the literacy and numeracy standard pathways they are using.
Level 2	60 credits at level 2 or above + 20 credits from any level The Level 1 literacy and numeracy requirements must also be met.
Level 3	60 credits at level 3 or above + 20 credits from level 2 or above From 2014 the Level 1 literacy and numeracy requirements must also be met.

University Entrance

University Entrance (UE) is the minimum requirement to go to a New Zealand university. To qualify you will need:

• NCEA Level 3
• Three subjects - at Level 3, made up of:
  • 14 credits each, in three approved subjects
• Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:
  • 5 credits in reading
  • 5 credits in writing
• Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of:
  • achievement standards – specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or
  • unit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).

대학입학자격은 최소기준에 불과하기때문에, University Enterance를 넘는것을 목표로 삼는것은 적절하지 않겠습니다만,

가장 중요한 level 3에서 최대한 많은 크리딧을 따는것이 대학진학에 유리 하다고 (특히나 원하는 과로 진학을 하려한다면)
