지난 주 로니가 웰링턴 빅토리아 대학교에서 Diploma of Teaching(교육 대학원) 수업을 들으러 일주일간을 다녀왔습니다.
일주일간 로니가 웰링턴에서 공부를 할 동안, 티마루에 남은 민우,현우는 엄마없는 일주일, 그리고 저는 와이프없는 일주일이
보내면서 얼마나 집에서 '엄마' 그리고 '와이프'가 중요한지 다시한번 깨닫는 계기가 되었습니다.

I have just spent a week in windy Wellington attending the residential component of my Post Graduate Diploma. What a week! Below is a selection of photos from my week in the capital.
일주일동안 바람이 많이 부는 웰링턴에서의 Post Graduate Diploma 를 보냈습니다. 밑의 사진들은 일주일간 웰링턴에서의 사진입니다.
I left Timaru on this wee plane on Monday morning, not quite sure what I was heading for but excited and full of anticipation for the learning opportunities ahead. My flight was glorious, 7am, not a cloud in the sky and the sun rising in the east. Perfect.
티마루를 월요일 아침에 떠났는데, 확실하게 무엇을 때문에 가는지는 모르겠지만, 배움의 기회로의 기대가 있어서 흥미로웠습니다. 아침 7시의 비행은 구름한점없는 하늘에, 동쪽에서 해가 떠오르는 완벽한 비행이었습니다.
What a welcome! My very own street.
환영이란 이런 것이겠죠. 로니라는 이름의 street도 있었습니다.
The Faculty of Education is located in the suburb of Karori in Wellington central. Our tutor Peter Adolph recalls organising students to move the furniture to this site in the 1960's. He told me the first winter there was no heating turned on and students longed for the old campus at Kelburn. Brrrrr! The Faculty is home to leading research scholars in the field of education.

1960년대에 학생들이 가구(책상 등)등을 옮기는것을 계획했다고 합니다. 피터선생님이 기억하기로 첫해에는 난방이 되지않아서
Kelburn 캠퍼스로 돌아가기를 원했다고 합니다. Karori 캠퍼스는 교육학에서의 연구로 유명합니다.
This area is known as The Quad - a place to meet classmates during lunch time.
Qaud라고 불리는곳인데,학생들이 점심을 먹기위해서 만나는곳 입니다.
No capital city is without it's early morning traffic. My first morning the 25 minute trip took 45 minutes. I learnt my lesson and left 5 minutes earlier the next day. Amazing what a difference 5 minutes makes! I was there in 25 minutes.
도시에서의 차량정체는 당연하죠. 첫 아침에는 25분이 걸려야하는 길이 45분이 걸렸구요. 다음날에는 계획된 시간보다 5분빨리
떠나는것을 배우게 되었습니다. 5분빨리 출발하는 아침에 얼마나 큰 차이를 만들어내는지요. 25분만에 학교에 도착할수 있었습니다.
The evening landscape looking back towards Mt Victoria from the motorway. Maori legends refer to Mt Victoria (the hill on the right) as being a tangiwha (lizard type creature) that tried to leap into the ocean from the bay but failed and got beached right there for eternity.

실패해서 해변에 도착을 해서 영원토록 살았다고 합니다.
In the science lab we engaged in learning experiences common to NZ primary classrooms. These leaves are native to NZ and the object of the task was to learn varying classification criteria.
과학실험실에서는 뉴질랜드 초등학교교실에서 이루어지는 일반적인 학습이었습니다. 위의 나뭇잎들은 뉴질랜드 토종자생식물들인데, 여러 기준으로 나누는것을 배웠습니다.

Hangi is the Maori traditional method of cooking food in the ground. As part of our hands on science experience we discussed the elements of the hangi and the length of time, processes and materials needed to successfully cook meat and vegetables in the ground.
항이 는 마오리의 전통적인 방법으로 땅에서 음식을 요리하는 방법입니다. 과학수업의 일환으로 항이의 요소와 시간, 과정, 그리고
성공적으로 요리(고기, 채소)를 땅에서 하기위해서 필요한 물품들에 대해서 토론을 했죠.
Our science lecturer sharing her wealth of knowledge. What a woman! I found her passion for teaching an inspiration. It was obvious that she is a natural teacher. I doubt any of her students ever fell asleep in class!
교수님이 자신의 지식을 나누고 있는 모습입니다. 이 교수님으로 부터 고취를 받았습니다. 당연하게도 교수님은 자연스러운
선생님이었습니다. 내 생각에 이 수업에서는 그 어떤 학생들도 잠을 자지 않았다고 생각을 합니다.
Technology class - here we designed objects that reflected concepts of social significance. Richard is holding a prototype for a anti pen theft device. Never again will your classmate steal your favourite pen.
테크놀로지 클라스의-우리는 과학의 중요성을 컨셉으로 해서 물건을 디자인했는데, Richard는 도둑방지용 팬의 기본모습을
보여주고 있습니다.
The girls in this group made the umbrella from card and straws. Cute!
여기 있는 학생들은 카드보드와 빨대를 사용해서 우산을 만들었네요.
Physical Education class - Inclusion of all is a central value of NZ P.E classrooms. All students are expected to engage in activities that promote physical well-being. In this session we were focused on the skills needed to teach hand-eye-ball coordination. Our lecturer recalled a wheelchair bound student playing touch rugby with able bodied students as being an inclusive practice that was valued by all members of the team.

체육수업시간-포용은 뉴질랜드 체육수업에서의 가장 중요한 부분입니다. 모든 학생들이 활동에 참여해서, 신체의 건강함을
조성하게 합니다. 이번 세션에서는 손/눈/볼의 코디네이션 스킬을 배우는데 포커스를 맞추었습니다.
체육수업 교수님이 기억하기에 휠체어를 탄 학생이 터치럭비를 일반학생들과 같이 하고, 이는 모든학생들이 포함(포용)이 된
것으로서 모든 팀 멤버로부터 의미를 부여받았다고 합니다.

좋은 선생님이 되기 위해서 노력하는 로니의 모습이 자랑스럽습니다. 무엇보다, 우리 두 자녀들(민우, 현우)가
학교를 시작해서 8년을 보내야하는 초등학교 시스템이기에, 어떤 한편으로는 민우, 현우를 좀더 잘 이해하기위해서
미리 준비하고 노력을 하는것이라고 해도 되겠죠.
