Art Rocks Festival 2011, Timaru, NZ (9월 23~25일)

티마루지역(70km반경)안에 고대 마오리 Rock Art site가 300여개나 될정도로, 티마루뿐만 아니라 뉴질랜드의 중요한 문화유산으로 발견되어서 보호가 되고 있습니다. 9월 23일부터 25일까지 Timaru의 곳곳에서 열리는 축제에 뉴질랜드 가수들도 참여하는 행사라고 합니다. 

 

티마루 인포메이션 센터에 있는 테아누 마오리 Rock Centre가 중심으로 수공예품도 전시가 되고, kite(연)날리기, 캐롤라인 베이 사운드 쉘에서의 밴드들의 공연들이 열리게 됩니다.

Friday 23 September - gates open 5.30pm, starts 6.00pm
Art Rocks Concert at Caroline Bay Soundshell, presented by Aoraki
Polytechnic, featuring The Phoenix Foundation, The Thomas Oliver Band and Sam Says.

Saturday 24 September
Aoraki Kite Festival – Caroline Bay
9.00am kite making (Bay Hall, $5 per person), 1.00pm family kite flying and demonstration.

Sunday 25 September - From 12.00 noon
Art Rocks Festival Day - Surrounding the Te Ana Ngai Tahu Rock Art Centre, George Street, Timaru
Traditional and contemporary arts and craft activities with an emphasis on participation. From rock art to graffiti - suitable for families but catering for all ages.

Sunday 25 September - 2.00pm and 6.00pm
Voices of Our Ancestors - Speights Ale House Courtyard Stage
Shared tribal ancestry - stories and song with funky grooves, lush harmonies and haunting ballads.

Sunday 25 September - from 7.00pm
Aoraki Fire and Rock feat. Mika - Speights Ale House Courtyard Stage
A multi-media visual extravaganza featuring live music and dance from Mika and Flame Fire Productions. Night food and craft market.

Daily - from 10.00am 
Explore Te Ana Ngai Tahu Rock Art Centre or take a guided tour to view unique rock art drawings in ancient limestone caves.
